“Nyanza Cricket Association” all set to take the next step "FORWARD".

Kisumu (Kenyas's 3rd largest city) due to its strategic location and infrastructure has always been an important city from the colonial times.

British introduced some cultures commonly followed by all its Territories. The English language, whisky and of course the gentleman’s game cricket are all gifts by them.

However after independence cricket declined in Nyanza. Other cities from East-Africa like Darussalam, Kampala, Nairobi, Nakuru and Mombasa have all gone miles ahead with their cricketing system and structure. The new body is trying to revive the game and make Kisumu a cricket hub, capable of hosting high profile games just like the other cities in East Africa

Kisumu has the potential to emerge as a real cricketing destination as any other colonial city. Not only does it have the history and culture to maintain a good cricket system, but it easily fulfills the basic requirements like having an Airport, hotels and medical facilities. The city is also connected buy rail and road. Its strategic importance means, business flourishes and money is not stagnant.

“Nyanza Cricket Association” has had several meetings this month with all its stakeholders and others concerned, and is all set to take the next giant step which is starting a cricket league of their own and identifying a couple of cricket grounds for their cricketers.
